I took a photo of a log in a forest near home and "sculpted" the Chief's wife from it using Painter. I wanted to create a sense of a sad but proud chieftan's wife. Sculptors in Africa create carvings like these over countless hours and mostly sell them for a pittance to bargaining tourists. Hence the sad look as it reflects a proud culture doing what it can in the modern world to survive.
